  • Workload shape — data size, update pattern, locality, and expected burst behavior.
  • What must stay exact — any constraints where approximation is not acceptable.
  • Current performance goals — latency target, throughput pressure, and fallback tolerance.
  • The operator — what the fixed structure is, and how often its topology (not its values) changes.
  • The host process — what language and binary already holds the dense state, since that is what HST links into.

HST is an embedded library: it links into the process that already holds your state, so there is no service to stand up and no data to ship anywhere. Licensing is an offline signed file validated in-process, and nothing calls home at runtime.
